Mostly a day of work on D8233 & D5705 today but two of the team managed to get a couple of jobs done on D9531 as well. Adam gave the new start panel cover another coat of paint. Steve Connor managed to finish mounting the windscreen wiper motors and complete the associated plumbing. A portable compressor was used to test the installations however, in his own words 'they've got a mind of their own' with some running continuously, so these will need looking at when time allows.

The Friday before the Diesel gala and a chance to get some niggling jobs out of the way. Adam cut and fitted new gaskets for the A end roof section vents. Jason fixed down the remaining marker lamp, which needed the old bolts drilling & tapping out, he then proceeded to fit the marker lamp units themselves.

Chris made a replacement for the missing handbrake wheel key and then greased the handbrake chain. With the handbrake position marker also refitted and chain back in place, Adam pop riveted the cover back onto the A end cab. Having finished the roof vents, Adam then joined Chris fitting the new rubbers for the cab and nose end doors. Ample amounts of evo-stick was applied, the rubber cut to length and then stuck into place.

Meanwhile, Jason had begun making the wooden packing frames to fit inbetween the loco's batteries, these prevent them moving around whilst in motion. As a last job, Chris cut out the hole for the new larger Air train pipe gauge in the cab panel. The hole was marked then gently opened out using a cutting disc and finally cleaned up with a file. A successful day lots more progress made.
Saturday 5th March

Diesel Gala Weekend but still a little more progress made. B end new cable trunking was sighted with other items that may foul, Jason then made some bracketing to mount the trunking and progressed further making more packing pieces for the battery boxes as well as straighting out the vacuum chamber mounting. Adam cut out the second gauge panel for the larger air train pipe gauge and painted the new start panel cover in orange gloss.

Sunday 6th March

Alan wired in the recently fitted float switch on the cooler group, allowing Jason and Adam to fit the remaining side grille for the cooler group. Alan then continued terminating wires in the cubicle and cab while Jason and Adam progressed and completed fitting the new cable duct for the B end, which runs from the cab down to the compressor and 110v Generator. This will allow cable connections in the B end to be mounted and terminated.

Again another productive session despite the railway being busy over the March gala weekend.
